Many people use the term Victorian to describe a particular style of home. However, a Victorian isn’t so much a style as it is a period in history. A true Victorian, be it a Queen Anne, First Empire, or Gothic Revival was built between 1840 and 1900. These popular homes have been widely copied and it is not unusual to see various Victorian elements copied and utilized in many styles of Vermont architecture. Appealing elements such as turrets, stained glass, cupolas, and ginger bread trim are often found in this era of Vermont home.
